Massy Cricket – Big Win For SDA

ONE match was played on Tuesday the Massy United Insurance Under – 19 Schools Cricket Tournament continued at the Gros Islet Playing Field.

The highlight of the day was an impressive 91 by ChazCepal. In the process SDA Academy went on to win by five wickets over Sir Ira Simmons Secondary.

Sir Ira Simmons Secondary batting first reached 256 for 9 in their 43 overs, with Dane Edward top scoring with 69 which included 10 fours. Other contributions with the bat came from Tyler Sookwa (43); Johnnel Eugene (29) and Anthony Cadette (25)

Bowling for SDA Academy, Linus Cepal picked up 2 for 7, Joshua Cepal 2 for 49 and Rumario Simmons 2 for 52.

Set what seemed to be a challenging target of 257, SDA Academy, led by inspiring captainChazCepal with a half-century got over the line, finishing on 257 for 5 in 40.5 overs. Cepal batted impressively in making 91. His knock included 11 fours and 2 sixes. Other useful scores came from Rumario Simmons with 42, Shakim George 29 and ClendonDonai 15.

For Sir Ira Secondary, Tyler Sookwa bagged 2 for 45 in 9 overs.

To date, 20 matches have been completed in the preliminary group stage of the tournament, with 18 more remaining.

The tournament continues today with two matches. In Group E: CARE plays Leon Hess Comprehensive at the Monchy Playing Field, while in Group D: Vide Bouteille Secondary meets SDA at the Gros Islet Playing Field.

Tomorrow In Group D: SMC plays Sir Ira Simmons at the Gros Islet Playing Field and in Group C: Castries Comprehensive plays Gros Islet Secondary at Monchy.
