13 Swimmers For CARIFTA Meet

A strong 13 member contingent from the St. Lucia Amateur Swimming Association will leave the island tomorrow for Martinique to participate in 31st edition of the CARIFTA Swim Championship.

The swimmers are expected to return home on Sunday 27.

The St.Lucia team was selected following a series of events both locally and regionally leading up to SLASA qualifier held on Sunday February 28 at the Rodney Heights Aquatic Centre dubbed “Final CARIFTA Qualifier”.

Three young and aspiring female swimmers in the persons of Allandre Cross, Veronica Brown and Mikaili Charlemagne are set to make their CARIFTA debuts in the 11 – 12 and 15 – 17 divisions and from all indications they are excited about representing St.Lucia at the Games.

The reminder of the team reads: Eden Crick, Katie Kyle (female), Omar Alexander, Christopher Phillips, Jamar Archibald, TerrelMonplaisir, JayhanOdlum Smith, Jyasi Daniel, Devin Boodha and Mark Emanus (male).

In Martinique the St.Lucia team will be under the watchful eyes of Head Coach / Olympian Jamie Peterkin and Manager, Dr. Leslie Bishop.

Meanwhile, today from 9:30 a.m. the St.Lucia Amateur Swimming Association has organized a sendoff ceremony at the Rodney Heights Aquatic Centre where the 13 member team, coaches, team manager, Ministry officials, a representative from St.Lucia Olympic Committee, SLASA Executive and special guest speaker will meet the athletes before the final training session and departure.
