As part of an annual initiative, CIBC FirstCaribbean has donated $5,000.00 to support the Salvation Army’s Christmas Kettle Drive.
Every year during the Christmas season volunteers and employees sing Christmas carols or ring bells encouraging passers-by to donate cash in the red kettles.
The Salvation Army Christmas Kettle Drive assists deprived families during the season by providing food hampers, clothing, shelter and counselling.
Captain Dwayne Broome of the Salvation Army said: “While the drive typically takes place during the Christmas season, support of the Salvation Army assists families throughout the year. We want to applaud CIBC FirstCaribbean on its efforts to consistently support and better the lives of families in our communities, particularly during the Christmas season. This year, The Salvation Army has placed greater focus on ensuring that children of less advantaged families have a wonderful Christmas and we are pleased to partner with CIBC FirstCaribbean to make this happen.”
Country Manager, Ladesa James-Williams told how important it was to contribute and provide assistance to worthy causes that assist members within the community she said: “CIBC FirstCaribbean is here for what matters and for us serving the needs of St Lucia and in particular the elderly and less fortunate is of paramount importance. Our relationship with the Salvation Army is well over 100 years and we are happy to once again provide support and look forward to continuing the relationship many years to come.”
The Salvation Army’s Christmas Kettle Campaign has raised funds for a number of years to meet its demand for services and items at this time of year, and has grown into a recognizable feature of the Christmas season.
