SLNCA Lauds Coach Arthur

THE St.Lucia National Cricket Association (SLNCA) along with the Women’s Cricket Development Committee (WCDC) has expressed sincere condolences to Mrs. Antonia Arthur and family on the passing of her husband, Kenneth Arthur who was the St.Lucia National Women Cricket Team Coach.

During Arthur’s cricketing career, he represented New Park. He went on to coach the Police Cricket Team, Central Castries and Sparklite Rangers.

“Ken” as he was affectionately known was appointed Coach of the National Women’s Cricket Team in 1992, a position held until 2004. It was under his guidance, that the St. Lucia National Women’s Cricket Team was Double Crown Champions of the West Indies Women’s Cricket Federation (WIWCF) Tournament in 1998 and 2001, winning both the League and Knock Out championships.

As a result, St. Lucia gained eight selectees on the West Indies Trials Squad in 1998 and a record of nine selectees in 2001 namely: Julietta Charlie Herman, Roselyn Emmanuel, Eugena Gregg, VerenaFelicien, Philippa Thomas Eudovic, Leona Vitalis, Nadine George Pamela Alfred and Lorena Vitte, seven of whom went on to make the final team.

In 2012 at the SLNCA’s, Annual Awards Ceremony and Dinner, the former police officer and coach was recognized for his twelve years of “outstanding and invaluable services, commitment, and significant contribution to the development of women’s cricket in St. Lucia.”

“It is with heartfelt sadness that the SLNCA, former West Indies and national cricketers, other female player’s, family and friends mourn the loss of a very disciplined sportsman, husband, police officer and coach who gave back earnestly and tirelessly to his country and selflessly assisted and motivated others to be successful, an SLNCA statement said.
