The death toll from Wednesday’s fatal accident on the Bexon Highway has risen to four.
Four year old Benjamin Agard who was travelling on board the ill-fated vehicle that ran off the road died earlier today, Thursday.
Police said that at about 3:02 p.m. Wednesday the Traffic Unit responded to a vehicular accident which occurred on the Bexon Highway.
They said a truck registration #TK3817 travelling in a southern direction, and driven by 54 year old, Thomas Arthur of Deglos, Castries, ran off the road and crashed into a utility pole. Onboard also at the time were Arthur’s companion, 58 year old Margretia Antoine, and her two grandsons six year old David Agard and his four year old brother Benjamin Agard, all of Sarrot, Castries.
As a result of the impact, the truck burst into flames and what is believed to be the charred bodies of Thomas Arthur, Margretia Antoine and David Agard were recovered from the said vehicle.
Benjamin Agard, who sustained burns to the body, was transported to the Victoria Hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.
