BEAUTY Max Inc.is giving back to St Lucians this Christmas, according to Managing Director WassimBashity. The company which started its beauty products business here in June 2015 recently organized a treat for some 200 less fortunate persons in the city with meals and beverages. This event was graced with the presence of Mayor Peterson Francis, who recognized the activity as a very positive one in helping alleviate the daily plight of persons who do not know where the next meal is coming from. Francis took time to serve meals at this event and commended Beauty MaxInc for undertaking the initiative.

THE Oxford dictionary defines patriotism as a ‘vigorous support of one’s country’. The word is also defined as ‘A devotion or cultural attachment to one’s homeland’. Patriotism simply put, signifies ‘a love for country.’ It is a desire to see one’s country grow and develop whereby citizens can enjoy a higher standard of living. THE curtains came down Tuesday evening on the inaugural St. Lucia Sports online Gros Islet Football League competition with the finals at the Gros Islet Playing Field. In front of an appreciative crowd of football supporters Massy Northern United continued their good run as they trounced Sandals 7 – 0 and emerge champions. At the half time whistle of Referee John Eugene, the score was 3 – 0 in favour of MNU with goals from Aramis Gilbert in the 3rd minute, Troy Greenidge in the 19th minute and Daniel Denis in the 22nd minute.

SLTA Camp for Under 12s A Success

THE St Lucia Tennis Association successfully hosted a five day overnight training and development camp which ended yesterday for 12 & under players at the National Tennis Centre (NTC) in Beausejour, Gros Islet. Players from training programmes at the NTC and the grassroots programme had an opportunity to play tennis and receive lots of instructions from our National Coach from Cuba Carlos Lopez and local Coach Ricardo Francois.

Recreation Project Coming for Amputees

St. Lucian’s with limb amputations will be the focus of a new initiative to help improve their quality of life by providing a programme of sports, recreation and help with rehabilitation. The chAMPS programme focusing on people with disabilities in the form of limb amputations is being launched in St Lucia supported by the Australian High Commission’s Direct Aid Programme (DAP) and run by the Sacred Sports Foundation Inc (SSF).

3 Players Warned for Conduct

ST. JOHN’S, Antigua – The West Indies Cricket Board confirmed that Alzarri Joseph and Nikita Miller were fined, and Roshon Primus was reprimanded for breaches of the Code of Conduct during the fourth round of matches in the Digicel Regional 4-Day Tournament which ended on Monday. All three players admitted to the offences and accepted the sanctions proposed by the respective match referees, meaning there was no need for formal hearings.

And although the Royal St. Lucia Police Force has yet to reveal its strategies to combat crime islandwide during the season, THE VOICE has been reliably informed that just like previous years the Force has a strategy in place for this time of the year.

Call for Greater Ties With French Islands

ST. LUCIA yesterday called for greater collaboration with the French Caribbean territories as they map out strategies for socio-economic development projects that are to be funded by the European Union. Addressing the final day of the INTERREG V Caribbean, a multi-million dollar EU funded programme aimed at boosting the economic competitiveness of regional countries, Prime Minister Allen Chastanet said that it was imperative for there to be closer collaboration among the French and English-speaking Caribbean countries given the changing global landscape.
