Region Pays Tribute To Castro

BRIDGETOWN, Barbados, CMC – Caribbean politicians were on Saturday praising the life of Fidel Castro, the former Cuban leader who died on Friday and who sought to improve relations between his Communist island and the region. “The real Revolutionary.Indelibly etched in history. I pay my respects to the life and work of Fidel Castro and express the profound condolences and sympathies of the Jamaican people to the people of Cuba,” Prime Minister Andrew Holness said in a message on his Facebook page.

Montessori Centre supports Cancer Society

IN observance of Cancer Awareness Month, teachers and students of the Montessori Centre made a generous donation of $1,500.00 to the St Lucia Cancer Society. “We at the Society depend upon the goodwill of the community to help us continue our work in trying to ease the burden of those afflicted with the disease, as well as helping people get well and stay well, and empowering them to fight back”, a spokesperson for the school said.

FLOW TV To V.H. Kids on ‘Mission Day’

THE children at Victoria Hospital will soon have a brand new large screen TV and access to free cable TV service for one year, along with toys, other gifts, thanks to Flow. The toys are being provided by the company’s employees. Flow made the announcement at its Mission Day celebration which was held on Wednesday last at it’s office compound in Corinth. All the company’s employees came together to celebrate Flow’s mission and values, among them ‘Connecting communities, transforming lives.”

I’d seen the same before in neighbouring Argentina and Colombia, so I wanted to talk about Blacks in South America with the young guy who silently poured my coffee with a wide smile every morning. But that was out of the question, as our tongues didn’t mesh.
