TWO matches were played in the Mabouya Valley Football League’s, Inter-Club Football Championship on Sunday at the Grand Riviere Playing Field with wins for Rovers United and Aux Lyon.
In the tournament’s opener Rovers United Sports Club decked in their customary yellow, green and red attire edged Monarch Sports Club 2 – 1, thanks to a “double” from KernilPolius with strikes in the 15th minute from a free kick just outside the box and another in the 35th minute, while Monarcs lone goal came in the 70th minute, a strike from TerrolNorville.
In the second encounter Aux-Lyons United Sports Club produced a comprehensive team effort to inflict a 4 – 0 hammering of Togetherness Youth with goals from Fabian Joseph (7th minute), AkimGittens (11th minute),WayneTheodule (33rd minute) to leave the score line 3 – 0 at the half time whistle.
On the resumption further Aux Lyon nosed further ahead from a LeronMonley strike in the 54th minute to give his team all three points.
Meanwhile, matches continue mid-week with Chesters Sports Club against Young Generation tomorrow and R.Y.O versus Survivals Sports Club on Thursday. Both matches will commence from 4.00 p.m.
