MAYOR of Castries, Peterson D. Francis, has expressed sadness at the devastation caused by the fire that destroyed multiple homes at Rose Hill after midnight on Monday.
Mayor Francis disclosed that one of his team members in the Administrative Department was affected.
“My thoughts go out to the people of Rose Hill who have suffered terrible personal losses,” the Castries Mayor said.
“I wish to sympathize with everyone. I am grateful that we had no loss of life and that the blaze was contained because this could have been worse not only for the residents of Rose Hill, but the City of Castries.”
According to Mayor Francis, the incident could have mushroomed into another fire on the scale of the 1948 conflagration which devoured 75% of the Castries and rendered 2,000 homeless.
He applauded firefighters for responding promptly.
Mayor Francis said his office would work with the Office of the District Representative, Sarah Flood-Beaubrun, to bring relief to the affected families.
you can house those affected at City Hall, maybe.
