Semi-finalists Decided In Massy United Insurance Schools Tournament

THE semi-finalists of the 2018 Massy United Insurance-sponsored Under-19 Secondary Schools cricket tournament, in conjunction with the Department of Youth Development and Sports, have been decided.

The four semifinalists are: Entrepot Secondary, St. Mary’s College, Choiseul Secondary and Sir Arthur Lewis Community College.

At the Mindoo Phillip Park, Soufriere Comprehensive came up against the Sir Arthur Lewis Community College. Soufriere, batting first, managed to reach 98 all-out in 30 overs. Zande Lionel top-scored with 21, Kervel Prospere contributed 17 and Nick Jn Baptiste chipped in with 11.

Bowling for SALCC, Sanjay Hayle picked up 4 for 8 in eight overs and Rahym Joseph 4 for 20.

SALCC replied with 104 for 5 in 14.3 overs. Dominic Auguste top-scored with 19, Dane Edward 17 and Jard Goodman 14 were the leading scorers.

For Soufriere, Tertius Jones bagged 4 for 35.

In another game, St. Mary’s College took on Babonneau Secondary. Babonneau Secondary got to 194 all out in 35.5 overs. Caleb Thomas 29, Kimani Melius 27 and Jelani Cupid 22 were the main contributors with the bat.

Bowling for SMC, Amari Venner picked up 4 for 34 in 10 overs and Simeon Gerson 2 for 34 in 7 overs.

St. Mary’s College replied with equal conviction, getting home by one wicket reaching 198 for 9 in 38.2 overs. DelanLaForce top scored with 65, and JehanBoodha chipped in with 20.

Bowling for Babonneau, Kimani Melius showed his ability with the ball bagging 3 for 47 in 10 overs and Bolton Sayers supported with 2 for 42.

At the Piaye playing field, a brilliant 110 by Hanif Antoine got Choiseul Secondary to 296 all out in 37.3 overs against Grande Riviere Secondary. Sky Lafeuille 68,Stephan Theophane 28 were the other leading scorers.

For Grande Riviere Secondary, Darneil Deterville took for 3 for 50 in 8 overs, Mc Wayne Vidal 3 for 71 in 8 overs and Ronaldo Joseph bagged 2 for 69 in 8 overs were the main wicket takers.

Chasing 297 for victory Grande Riviere Secondary were dismissed for 118 in 22.3 overs. Ronaldo Joseph top scored with 47 and Kurtie Mathurin chipped in with 12.

Bowling for Choiseul Secondary, Jervon Stephen picked up 4 for 45 in 8 overs and Stephane Theophane 3 for 24 in 7 overs.

Choiseul Secondary won by 178 runs.

On Thursday, April 19 at the La Ressource playing field Entrepot Secondary completed an impressive 139 run victory over Micoud Secondary. Entrepot Secondary taking first knock made 214 for 6 in their allotted 40 overs with Samuel Cadette top scoring with 48, captain Tyrel Chicot 39, Jaden Lafeuille 36 not out, Ephron Charles 24, O’Larry Alfred 16 not out, Craig Elisee 12 and Denzel Roberts 10.

Bowling for Micoud Secondary, Jerlan Justin 3 for 34 in 6 overs, West Indies Under- 16 player and team captain Garvin Serieux 3 for 47 in 10 overs and one wicket each to Brandt Edward and Mc Clean Estaphane.

Needing 215 for victory, Micoud Secondary found the going tough against Entrepot Secondary’s spinners and was bowled out for 75 in 16.3 overs with Nemiah Thomas top scoring with 16 and Dequize Henry and Christaini Lewis with 14 each.

The chief destroyer with the ball for Entrepot Secondary was off spinner Jaden Lafeuille with standout figures of 6 for 20 in 5 overs. The other wicket takers were National under -15 players Royce Paul with 2 for 25 in 5 overs and O’Larry Alfred with 1.
