PRESS RELEASE – THE Saint Lucia National Youth Council (SLNYC) along with the Department of Youth Development and Sports is pleased to announce St. Lucia’s presence at the 2018 Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) Youth Forum held at the United Nations Headquarters in New York City.
Selected to participate from the National Youth Council’s Youth Ambassadors Network was 23-year-old Zia Barnard of Choiseul.
The two-day summit held from January 30-31 adopted the theme, “The Role of Youth in Building Sustainable and Resilient Urban and Rural Communities”.
Barnard recently graduated from University of the West Indies, majoring in Microbiology with a minor in Biotechnology. She has proven to be dedicated and passionate about her field of study and is well-positioned to represent the youth of Saint Lucia at the ECOSOC forum.
The programme is centred on connecting youth leaders from different organizations around the world and providing a platform to engage representatives in dialogue with Member States and contribute to policy formulation on economic and social aspects globally.
