OVER 360 athletes will converge on the Mindoo Phillip Park today when the St. Lucia Athletics Association stagesthe last of two qualifiers for 1st National Bank St.Lucia Limited 14 and Under Games from 10:00 a.m.
The championship which is in its 23rd year continues to be a breeding ground for young athletes between the ages of 7 and14 years.
According to the SLAA the following clubs and schools will participate : Anglican Athletics, Blazers, Ciceron Secondary, Choiseul Juniors, District 1 Athletics Club, Elite, Gros Islet, Morne Stars, Marchand R.C. Combined School, R.C. Combined Schools, Road Busters, Rockets, SJC Blue Eagles, Speed Printing Survivors and Western Team (Soufriere and Canaries).
The athletes will be competing in a number of track and field events from the 60 meters for boys and girls to the 1200 metres for boys, the cricket ball throw and a series of relays.
The top 16 field events athletes and the top 24 track athletes from the two qualifiers will advance to the grand finals scheduled for May 15 at the MPP.
