The Grand Prix des Artisans et Commerçants du François, scheduled for January 10, is a prominent regional road cycling race organized by the Velo Club du François (VCF). It serves as the second event of the 2026 French Cycling Federation (FFC) season.

Covering a challenging 93km circuit, this race not only showcases competitive cycling but also celebrates the local artisans and merchants of the region. It is a vital part of the regional cycling calendar, featuring stunning racing routes across the island.

Highlighting local talent, the Grand Prix comprises various categories, including Men’s Elite, Men’s Junior, and Men’s Under-23.

The race route spans 93 km around François in Martinique, featuring a mix of coastal views and inland climbs.

Key points of the route include:

– François (start/finish), the central hub of the event

– Coastal segments along the Le Vauclin or Le Marin corridor, offering spectacular sea vistas

– Gentle climbs in areas like Le Gros-Morne to maintain race intensity

– Technical sections near local beaches and bays such as Cap Chevalier or Anse-Fort-de-France

– Charming local villages across the eastern or southern coast, interweaving through agricultural zones and small fishing harbors

– A final stretch returning to François that combines flat and rolling roads, culminating in a potential uphill sprint on the outskirts of town

The event  highlights traditional skills through exhibitions, live demonstrations, and artisan competitions. This annual gathering fosters community pride and supports sustainable local economies by promoting handmade goods rooted in Martinican identity.
