ECTEL to Convene 105th Meeting of the Board of Directors in Grenada

The Eastern Caribbean Telecommunications Authority (ECTEL) headquartered in St. Lucia held  its 105th Meeting of the ECTEL Board of Directors which was held on Thursday, 11th December 2025. The meeting, which was held in Grenada at the Radisson Hotel, also saw participation online participation via Microsoft Teams.

This year’s meeting carried special significance, as it returned to Grenada—the birthplace of ECTEL. It was in St. George’s Grenada, 25 years ago, that the historic ECTEL Treaty was signed, officially establishing the organisation and setting the foundation for harmonised electronic communications regulation across its Contracting States. Hosting the 105th Board Meeting in Grenada provided an opportunity for the Board to reflect on ECTEL’s achievements over the past quarter-century and reaffirm its commitment to advancing a modern, resilient, and competitive communications environment in the region.

Agenda items which were discussed include the status of implementation of ECTEL’s 2024–2025 Workplan, updates on the World Bank–funded Caribbean Digital Transformation Project, progress on the public consultation regarding the licensing of newer satellite services, and a review of ECTEL’s Strategic Plan, among other key matters.

The Board of Directors meeting remains a key decision-making forum for ECTEL, where representatives from its five Contracting States convene to review strategic initiatives, advance regulatory policy, and help shape the future of the telecommunications landscape across the Eastern Caribbean.

In an effort to foster a better show of commitment to transparency and stakeholder engagement, ECTEL invited members of the public and other interested parties to observe the open session of the meeting.

The Eastern Caribbean Telecommunications Authority (ECTEL) is the regulatory body responsible for electronic communications in its five Contracting States: Commonwealth of Dominica, Grenada, St. Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, and St. Vincent and the Grenadines. ECTEL’s is to promote open markets, fair competition, and harmonised policies to ensure efficient and modern electronic communications services for all.
