Soufriere Comprehensive Secondary School (SCSS) has successfully retained its Under-16 School Netball title in an exhilarating final against St. Joseph’s Convent (SJC) on Friday, November 7, at the Beausejour Indoor Facility.

In a fiercely contested match, the teams were tied at 19-all at the end of regulation time. They proceeded to battle through two intense five-minute halves of extra time to determine the winner.
Ultimately, SCSS triumphed by the slimmest of margins, securing the championship with a final score of 24-23.
SCSS’s Goal Shoot (GS) Kheryss Ferguson was a standout performer, making an impressive 13 from 18 attempts during regulation and delivering a flawless five from five in extra time. Goal Attack (GA) Indiana James also contributed with six goals from 13 attempts.
On the opposing side, SJC’s Goal Attack (GA) Naija Ferdinand displayed remarkable accuracy, netting 12 from 14 attempts in regulation and four from four in extra time. Goal Shoot (GS) Iyana William kept SJC competitive by contributing seven goals from nine attempts.

In the third-place playoff, Saint Lucia Sports Academy (SLSA) dominated Castries Comprehensive Secondary School (CCSS) with an emphatic 18-8 victory.
For SLSA, Goal Shoot (GS) Ashmani Wilfred scored eight from nine attempts, while Goal Attack (GA) Isabella Emelien netted an impressive nine from ten. Goal Shoot Jackie Louison added one from one.
CCSS’s Goal Attack (GA) Kiana Delice scored six from nine attempts, and Goal Shoot Luwander Joseph managed one from four.
At the award presentations:
– Naija Ferdinand of St. Joseph’s Convent was named Most Accurate Shooter of the Tournament with an impressive 86.3% shooting rate across three games, scoring 38 out of 44 attempts.
– Faith Leon of SCSS received the Most Defensive Player of the Final award.
– Naija Ferdinand was also honored as the Best Attacking Player of the Final.
– Kenisha Biscette of SJC earned the title of Best Centre Player of the Final.
The prestigious MVP award went to Naija Ferdinand, who was awarded a $300.00 gift courtesy of the Ministry of Youth Development and Sports.
Most Valuable Player awards were also presented to standout athletes from each participating school:
– Keejan Severin for Babonneau Secondary
– Kaylee Isembert for Castries Comprehensive
– Malia Isidore for Choiseul Secondary
– Azaria Leon for Entrepot Secondary
– Davia Regis for Sir Ira Simmons
– Faith Leon for Soufriere Comprehensive
– Isabella Emilienne for Saint Lucia Sports Academy
– Naija Ferdinand for St. Joseph’s Convent
– Neriah Charlery for Vieux Fort Comprehensive.
