Saint Lucia to Celebrate IDPD 2025

Saint Lucia is determined to champion humanitarianism, social justice, and gender equality, ensuring that Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) are recognized and valued in society.

On December 3, Saint Lucia will actively participate in the global observance of the International Day for Persons with Disabilities (IDPD) with a national event at the Vieux Fort Square from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

This year’s global theme, “Fostering Disability-Inclusive Societies for Advancing Social Progress,” is powerfully supported by Saint Lucia’s national sub-theme: “Building an Inclusive Saint Lucia Together.”

An Organizing Committee, led by the Ministry of Home Affairs, Crime Prevention, and Persons with Disabilities, is finalizing impactful activities and initiatives for this important observance.

The Committee’s mission is clear: promote visibility, empowerment, and inclusive participation for Persons with Disabilities across all sectors of society.

The 2025 celebration will serve as a dynamic platform for raising awareness, advocating for change, and recognizing the vital contributions of persons with disabilities to national development.

This observance reinforces the Government of Saint Lucia’s unwavering commitment to constructing a more equitable and accessible society—one where every Saint Lucian, regardless of ability, is acknowledged, empowered, and integral to the nation’s advancement.

Through this celebration, the Ministry will not only emphasize the necessity of inclusion but also strengthen the institutional framework for disability affairs in Saint Lucia, paving the way for a more inclusive and sustainable future.
