For 30 young Saint Lucians, the path toward achieving their educational dreams has been made a little easier, as the Daren Sammy Foundation (DSF) continues its commitment to empowering youth through education. The Foundation has awarded scholarships to 30 students for the 2026/2027 academic year, providing financial assistance to help cover critical school expenses and supporting students as they pursue their academic goals.
The awards represent an investment of EC$68,000 in Saint Lucian students, with recipients from the primary, secondary and tertiary levels receiving support towards tuition, textbooks, bags and uniforms.
The DSF Scholarship Programme is designed to assist hardworking students from low-income families, with recipients selected based on academic performance, involvement in sports or extracurricular activities, and financial need.
Students are required to maintain a minimum passing grade of 75 percent per term to qualify for continued assistance. Primary school recipients receive EC$1,500 each, while secondary and tertiary recipients receive EC$2,500 each.
Among this year’s scholarship recipients, two students were recognised for exceptional academic achievement.
Mikayle Alcide of St. Mary’s College recorded a CPEA score of 96 percent, the highest among male recipients supported by the Foundation in 2026. Leona Edward of Vieux Fort Comprehensive Secondary School achieved 91.6 percent, the highest among female recipients.
Both students secured placement at their first-choice secondary schools following their outstanding examination results.

Every scholarship represents financial support, but it also represents our confidence in the potential of our young people to lead, serve and inspire.”
This year’s scholarship initiative was made possible with support from Republic Bank’s Power to Make a Difference (PMAD) Programme.
Since its establishment in 2016 by former West Indies cricketer and current Head Coach Daren Sammy, the Daren Sammy Foundation has awarded scholarships to 240 students, providing more than EC$370,000 in educational support.
Through its focus on education and sport, the Foundation continues to work towards empowering young Saint Lucians and investing in the country’s future one student at a time.
