Health Ministry Dispels False Claims of Toxic Substances in Drinks, Urges Public to Avoid Spreading Unverified Information

THE Ministry of Health, Wellness and Elderly Affairs is aware of a circulating WhatsApp voice note claiming that a toxic substance is being served in drinks, resulting in significant adverse health effects and wishes to categorically state that this information is false and unfounded. There is currently no evidence to support the claims made in this voice note.

Additionally, preliminary investigations suggest that this may be a resurfaced voice note which has the potential to cause unnecessary alarm, especially during this festive season. We urge members of the public to refrain from sharing unverified information and to rely on official communications from the Ministry of Health, Wellness and Elderly Affairs for accurate updates.

As we approach the Christmas season, the Ministry of Health takes the opportunity once again to encourage the public to act responsibly.

• Avoid excessive consumption of alcohol and unhealthy foods.

• Practice good hygiene, including frequent handwashing and sanitization.

• Ensure safe driving and sexual practices.

• Stay up to date with vaccinations and health checkups.

• Be mindful of your mental health and seek support when needed.

• Adhere to safety guidelines, especially in crowded or public areas.

The health, safety and well-being of the public remains the top priority of the Ministry of Health. Should there be any credible public health concerns, the Ministry will communicate promptly and transparently.
