
On July 22 at approximately 1:50 p.m., officers from the Department of Road Safety and Traffic Investigations at the Vieux-Fort Police Station responded to reports of a collision along the Vieux-Fort/Laborie Highway.
The accident involved one black motor vehicle, which suffered extensive damage with preliminary reports indicating that the driver lost control of the Toyota Corolla vehicle and crashed into a utility pole and a tree.
Four occupants were confirmed to have been in the vehicle at the time of the incident.
At about 2.35 p.m., emergency personnel from the St. Lucia Fire Service responded promptly and transported the injured to St. Jude Hospital for medical treatment.
Tragically, one of the victims, identified as five-year-old Kervil Lawrence of Piaye, Choiseul, later succumbed to his injuries.
The Saint Lucia Fire Service (SLFS) responded to the incident at approximately 2:35 pm, where emergency personnel encountered a Toyota Corolla that had collided with a utility pole and a tree.
According to the SLFS, the vehicle was occupied by four people, two adults, including a female passenger, and two children aged five and eight.
The eight-year-old was reportedly ejected from the vehicle during the collision and was found in the care of onlookers when emergency crews arrived.
Both adult occupants sustained bodily injuries. They, along with the eight-year-old, received emergency medical treatment at the scene before being transported to hospital for further care.
An investigation into the circumstances surrounding this devastating collision is currently ongoing.
