Gros Islet thrashed Mabouya Valley 7 – 2 with a dominant display to advance to the Play Offs in the SLFA Inc. Island Cup Premier League, as the final preliminary round match was played on Wednesday, at the Desruisseaux Playing Field.

Gros Islet’s goal scorers included Troy Greenridge with a beaver trick in the 40th, 43rd, 57th, and 66th, Aramis Gilbert 10th, Baggio Edward 83rd and Samuel Lawrence 86th min.

Scoring for Mabouya were Stanley Cherry an own goal in the 44th and Vernon John in the 82nd, min.

Meanwhile, Choiseul defeated Bonneau in a penalty shoot-out to advance to the finals of the Super League, following a 2-all draw at regulation time. In the penalty shootout,

After taking a 2-nil lead in the match, with goals from Lee Avril 53rd and Darrel Francis a penalty in the 57th min., Babonneau effected a turnaround, with an equalizer from Rick David 81st min and Jervon Joseph in the 6th min of added on time.

However, Choiseul edged past their opponents 6-5, in the penalty shoot-out to advance to the finals.

Meanwhile, on Wednesday, the visiting FIFA delegation comprising of Herve Blanchard, FIFA Regional Office Development Manager, Jair Bertoni FIFA Director Member for the Associations of Americas, and Jordan Victoire – FIFA Regional Office Development Coordinator concluded their program.

Incidentally, Jair Bertoni is the son of Argentine Daniel Bertoni who played alongside Maradona and scored the third goal in the Finals of the World Cup against the Netherlands in 1978.

Prior to their departure accompanied by President Lyndon Cooper, General Secretary Victor Reid, Asst. Secretary Evastus Augustin with responsibility for Infrastructure and Projects Development and Communication Officer Michael Pierre made a tour of the Turf Facilities on the island.

Astro Turf Facilities visited included those established in Desruisseaux, Micoud, Dunnery and the SLFA’s Technical Centre in Grande Riviere.

The FIFA Delegation was further briefed on the works to be undertaken, shortly at the Technical Centre. And these will include Lighting, erection of Bleachers and Fencing.

According to an SLFA spokesperson, the two entities reached a mutual consensus in reviewing the SLFA’s Strategic Infrastructure Development.
