The St. Lucia Athletics Association (SLAA) once again delivered an outstanding sporting and cultural experience with the hosting of the 2025 Kweyòl 5K Run powered by Lucozade on Sunday, October 19, 2025. The event attracted more than 75 participants, including athletes from clubs across the island and special guests from neighboring Martinique.

The race began promptly at 6:35 a.m. along the Old Military Road and concluded at the picturesque Pigeon Island, where the lively sounds of Kweyòl music and vibrant community energy greeted the runners at the finish line.

Athletes and fitness enthusiasts showcased their endurance and dedication to sport, delivering impressive performances in both male and female divisions.

1st – Jason Sayers (758 Adventurers) – 17:15.83
2nd – Donson Stanley (Soufriere Athletics Club) – 17:42.83
3rd – Neville Dupre (Dennery Falcons Athletics Club) – 17:49.30
Female Category
1st – Laura-Lyn Limery (Road Busters Athletics Club) – 21:14.00
2nd – McKayla Olivier (Road Busters Athletics Club) – 22:52.77
3rd – Abigail Herman (Sprint Tech Athletics Club) – 23:40.34

Special recognition was given to the oldest participants, Jean Pierre Ponchateau (53) and Jessica Varisot (51), both from Martinique, who completed the race with admirable determination.
The Road Busters Athletics Club earned the distinction of having the largest team representation with 18 registered participants, embodying the unity and camaraderie that the event promotes.
Speaking after the race, SLAA President Dora Henry expressed deep appreciation to all who contributed to the event’s success.

“The 2025 Kweyòl Run was a huge success and lived up to the Association’s expectations. It was a perfect blend of celebrating our Kweyòl culture while engaging in physical activity. We are proud of the participants, officials, and supporters who continue to make these events memorable.”
The SLAA also extended its gratitude to Lucozade, represented by Acado St. Lucia Ltd., for their continued sponsorship and support in promoting athletics and healthy lifestyles across the island.

The Kweyòl 5K Run continues to grow each year, standing as a vibrant reminder of the power of community, culture, and fitness in shaping a healthier, more connected Saint Lucia.
