SVG Prime Minister at Odds with Chastanet

St. Vincent and the Grenadines Prime Minister, Dr. Ralph Gonsalves

St. Vincent and the Grenadines Prime Minister Ralph Gonsalves has taken a huge swipe at former St. Lucia Prime Minister Allen Chastanet.

The St. Vincent and the Grenadines leader, who has been elected for 5 terms, said “Chastanet is undoubtedly the worst prime minister in the Caribbean in the 21st century.”

Gonsalves made those comments following the recent OECS assembly in St. Vincent which Chastanet attended. While in St. Vincent the former St. Lucian leader also reportedly participated in activities held by the main opposition New Democratic Party {NDP} sparking the reaction from the veteran regional leader.

Continuing with his jab, Gonsalves said he loves when Allen Chastanet visits St. Vincent because it gives him the “license” to speak freely when he visits St. Lucia. He criticized the leader of the opposition NDP Dr. Godwin Friday, for inviting Allen Chastanet to assist in their campaign, viewing the move as unwise. He went on to suggest that Allen Chastanet’s term in office speaks volumes about his ability to lead and is ill equipped to attract votes for the NDP.

Gonsalves was adamant that he would have more to say in due course.
