Arsenal and England footballer Myles Lewis-Skelly delighted a group of young Saint Lucian footballers when he joined their training session at the Daren Sammy Cricket Ground on Tuesday, July 1, 2025.

Lewis-Skelly, who is currently vacationing in Saint Lucia with his mother Marcia, made a surprise visit to the Gros Islet Youth Football League training camp, where he spent time interacting with 30 children from various schools across the district. The young players eagerly showed off their skills on the field, impressing the Arsenal midfielder, who later joined in for a spirited kickabout.

The young footballers were introduced to the Premier League star by Saint Lucia’s Minister for Tourism, Hon. Dr. Ernest Hilaire, and Chairman of the Saint Lucia Tourism Authority, Mr. Thaddeus Antoine. The visit was arranged as part of Lewis-Skelly’s island tour, facilitated by UK travel operator Inspiring Travel.

Lewis-Skelly’s presence brought excitement and motivation to the aspiring players, many of whom are avid Arsenal fans. The talented midfielder, regarded as one of England’s brightest young prospects, didn’t hesitate to share a few tricks and offer words of encouragement to the children.

Speaking during the visit, Lewis-Skelly expressed his deep appreciation for the warm welcome he and his mother have received throughout their stay. “We’ve had such a great week and everyone has made us feel very welcome. I have looked forward to this holiday. Saint Lucia is really beautiful and it’s great to be here and get to know the island better—especially as I have Saint Lucian heritage on my dad’s side,” he said.

He added, “The kids were so great, and so many support Arsenal, which was amazing to hear. I look forward to coming back to Saint Lucia.”

During their time on the island, Lewis-Skelly and his mother visited several iconic locations including Roseau, Soufrière, and took a scenic boat tour to view the majestic Pitons. They also immersed themselves in local culture, enjoying an evening at the popular Friday night “Jump Up” in Gros Islet.

The visit was not only a highlight for the young footballers but also a proud moment for the island, welcoming one of its own back home to inspire the next generation.
