
Sprinting legend Usain Bolt, widely regarded as the world’s fastest man, has officially been named a Guinness World Records (GWR) ICON, cementing his status among the greatest athletes in history.
Bolt, who stunned the world with his blistering 100m world record of 9.58 seconds set in 2009, continues to inspire fans around the globe with his achievements on and off the track. His record-breaking career includes numerous titles and feats that have stood the test of time, making him a dominant force in athletics and a global ambassador for the sport.
“I’m honoured to be a part of the greats, and always happy to be recognized by the Guinness World Records book,” said Bolt. “For years I’ve been in there and I’ve finally got all the certificates, which are going to look really good in my house.”
The GWR ICON title is a special recognition reserved for individuals whose accomplishments have had a lasting impact on culture and history. Bolt’s iconic lightning-bolt celebration and trailblazing speed continue to be celebrated years after his retirement from professional competition.
Guinness World Records Editor-in-Chief Craig Glenday personally presented Bolt with his ICON certificate, adding, “Usain Bolt isn’t just the fastest man alive — he’s a symbol of excellence, determination, and global sportsmanship.”
With this new title, Bolt joins an elite group of ICONs honored by Guinness World Records for their extraordinary achievements and enduring legacy.
