The Saint Lucian community is united in mourning the loss of Hubert Pierre, a remarkable individual who will not be forgotten.
As the former President of the Saint Lucia Red Cross, Pierre was not just a leader; he was also an accomplished author, composer, and singer. He was known for his incredible talent and unwavering passion.
Growing up in the Conway area, Pierre developed a deep appreciation for contemporary rock and roll, classical music, Caribbean beats, and calypso, drawing inspiration from artists like Elvis Presley, Al Green, and the legendary Mighty Sparrow from Trinidad and Grenada.
A true music enthusiast, Pierre once shared with THE VOICE, āI am music and music is me,ā underscoring his profound connection to the art form.

In addition, Pierre was an avid sports enthusiast who dedicated time from the 1970s onward to the administration and mentoring of the Conway-based Vempers Sports Athletic Dramatic Club (VSADC) football players.
Over the years, Pierre embraced the Christian faith, which provided him comfort and perspective. āI met Christ and that changed my whole outlook on life. Iām grateful to have reached that pivotal point early onāI can only imagine where I would be had I taken another path,ā he stated.
By 2020, Pierre was actively working on his ninth book, titled āAfter COVIDā, which addressed the pandemic’s challenges, including the lockdown and the implications for the future.
His involvement with the Red Cross was nothing short of extraordinary.
In a heartfelt online tribute, Michael Joseph, a respected friend and former President of the Antigua & Barbuda Red Cross, honoured him by stating, āRest in peace to a dear old friend. Your service has made a significant difference to humanity. Your actions, love, and passion for mankind have bettered the world. Your wisdom will always be remembered. Rest easy, faithful servant Hubert Pierre.ā
In a poignant final message before his passing, 72-year-old Pierre expressed, āTo my dear friends and family, as the time has come for me to leave this world, I want to thank each of you. Our memories will live on in my heart, and I will always carry them with me. My love for you will never fade, even though I wonāt be there in person.
āContinue to live with kindness, courage, and laughter, as we always did together. My spirit will be with you, watching over you, and I hope you find peace and joy in the days ahead.ā
