Auditions for the National Carnival Queen Pageant will take place today, March 8.
Several young women are expected to participate in the event.
This year, $25,000 and a university scholarship are up for grabs.
The National Carnival Queen Pageant is one of the most prestigious and anticipated events of Lucian Carnival, where grace, intelligence, and cultural pride take center stage. More than just a beauty contest, the competition celebrates the strength, poise, and talent of Saint Lucian women while preserving the rich traditions of pageantry within carnival.
Delegates represent communities across Saint Lucia. Each delegate competes in multiple segments, demonstrating not just their beauty but also their intellect, confidence, and ability to command the stage. Contestants undergo rigorous training in preparation for the pageant with an emphasis on the areas of advocacy, public speaking, and leadership, shaping these young women into ambassadors of Saint Lucian culture.
One of the pageant’s highlights is the talent showcase, where each contestant expresses their individuality through music, dance, poetry, or drama, offering a deeper look into their skills and creativity.
