Police Executive Pledges Support to Southern Division

.

The Royal Saint Lucia Police Force’s executive has vowed to help officers assigned to the Southern Division, as well as all members of the Royal Saint Lucia Police Force, as they work together to foster change and grow a loving, peaceful, and progressive community.

Calling for a Saint Lucia “in which we can all work, play, and live while respecting each other’s rights,” the executive conveyed a thank you note “to all hard-working police officers of the Royal St. Lucia Police Force for your contribution and dedication to the job. Collaboratively we will achieve”

“As we continue to discharge our duties, we do so strategically, and with resolve, for a safer and stronger Saint Lucia. We look forward to partnering with communities and members of the public to create the Saint Lucia that we and our children deserve. Despite challenges, we continue to hold firm, as we believe that step by step we can achieve. We value your support in providing information to solve matters, seize firearms, and bring perpetrators of crime to justice,” the police leadership stated in a press release yesterday.

This follows what appears to be a succession of successful operations carried out by police officers assigned to stations in the island’s south. For example, on Sunday, January 19th, 2025, officers from the Soufriere Police Station received and reacted to a complaint of a gunshot on Lenny’s Hill. Later that evening, the death of Hank Monrose, 27, was confirmed. The deceased sustained a single penetrating wound to the abdomen.

On Wednesday, January 22, 2025, police from the Soufriere Police Station received reports of a shooting in Palmiste, Soufriere. Titus Nicholas of Palmiste was injured in the event and had an upper right arm wound, as was Leonson Leon alias Lucky of Barons Drive, who received an upper left arm and right thigh wound. Investigations have progressed to the point where one person is in custody and assisting the police.

Officers assigned to the station, with assistance from other Royal St. Lucia Police units, conducted a series of police operations in Soufriere and nearby towns in reaction to the increase in gun crime, all in an effort to establish a safer environment. The operations included traffic inspections, housing searches, and mobile and foot patrols. All activities were carried out in accordance with national laws and with respect for the rights of all participants.

During the operations, the following were recorded: On Monday, January 27, 2025, police from the Drug Unit (south) conducted a search at Belle-Vue in Choiseul, resulting in the seizure of a Glock pistol.

Later that day, around 4:45pm, officers from the Drug Unit and the Special Services Unit worked together to arrest four people: Kenny Nicholas, alias Minikey of Palmiste, Soufriere; Elison Louisy of New Development, Soufriere; Makkia Paul, alias Turam of New Development, Soufriere; and Mac Kenzie Herman of Palmiste, Soufriere.

The four were driving a grey Volkswagen with the registration number 3758. The vehicle was thoroughly searched, and one AR15 rifle was seized. The automobile was on its way to the town of Soufriere. All four persons were charged with possessing a restricted firearm. They subsequently appeared in court and were remanded in detention until February 27th, 2025.

On Tuesday, January 28th, 2025, officers conducted a series of exercises in the Palmiste, Barons Drive, and Market Road areas. These included home searches and traffic inspections.

On Tuesday, January 28, 2025, 48-year-old Imran Henry, alias Larose or Roses of Lenny’s Hill, Soufriere, was accused with causing Hank Monrose’s death on Sunday, January 19, 2025. On January 29, 2025, he appeared in court and was sent to Boredelais Correctional Facility until February 27, 2025.
