Peter & Company Distribution (PCD) relaunched its Dewar’s 12-Year-Old Scotch Whisky on Thursday night and in the process announced the arrival of a spirit that will elevate Saint Lucia’s whiskey culture and redefine sophistication in the Caribbean.

“For decades, Dewar’s 12 has been more than just a whisky; it has been a symbol of exceptional craftsmanship and a favourite among whisky aficionados worldwide,” said Leranda Lewis, Dewar’s 12 Brand Manager at PCD on the night of the launch.

“With its renewed flavour profile and elegant presentation, Dewar’s 12 continues to set the standard. It was proudly ranked as the Number 1 Scotch Whisky and Number 4 Whisky of 2022 by Whisky Advocate – a true testament to its global appeal,” Lewis noted.

Acclaimed whisky expert Ian Buxton, author of ‘101 Whiskies to Try Before You Die’, hailed the transformation of Dewar’s 12 as a “booster rocket,” thanks to the visionary work of Master Blender Stephanie Macleod.

“This revitalised expression takes a beloved classic and propels it into an entirely new orbit”, Buxton noted, recognizing the bold leap forward in the whisky’s evolution.

The reimagined Dewar’s 12 is now made of clear, translucent glass, showcasing the liquid inside. A reflective copper capsule and modern label enhance the appearance.

According to a release from PCD, “The true magic of Dewar’s 12 lies in its redefined liquid. Crafted from an exquisite blend of up to 40 of Scotland’s finest single malt and grain whiskies. Dewar’s 12 is double-aged in hand-selected 1st fill bourbon casks. This meticulous process results in a whisky that is nothing short of extraordinary.”

The release then explained certain aspects of the whiskey, such as – Nose: A symphony of inviting red apples, ripe peaches, and a delicate touch of lemon zest.

Palate: A harmonious balance of floral notes, white pepper, and clove, evolving into a lush, fruity character.

Finish: A seamless blend of butterscotch and vanilla, with a gentle hint of smoky peach lingering on the finish

The blend has earned acclaim as the highest-rated 12-year-old blended Scotch whisky by Whisky Advocate.

“We are not just relaunching a whisky – we are celebrating a legacy, a lifestyle, and the timeless spirit of camaraderie,” Lewis stated at Thursday’s launch, adding that, “Dewar’s 12 has always been synonymous with excellence, and this new blend pushes the boundaries of what a Scotch whisky can be.”

Lewis further emphasized that Dewar’s 12 has always stood as a symbol of togetherness, luxury, and unforgettable moments.

“We are incredibly excited to share this extraordinary whisky with our customers,” Lewis said, indicating as well that Dewar’s 12 is a whisky that epitomises the artistry and heritage of Scotch-making.
