St. Lucia Electricity Services Limited (LUCELEC) and the National Workers Union (NWU) have signed a Collective Agreement for the period March 1, 2018, to February 29, 2024, on behalf of the company’s Grade 4 to 9 employees.
The agreement covers two triennia – 2018 to 2021 and 2021 to 2024.
Among its provisions is a 14% wage increase over the two triennia, and increases in vehicle allowance, mileage rate per mile and duty allowance.
The LUCELEC Negotiating Team was led by its Chief Human Resources Officer Sharon Narcisse.
“The Company is pleased that the Collective Agreement with the NWU has been settled. This marks the conclusion of negotiations with the Union for two triennia, the last of which ended February 29, 2024.
Although the negotiations, which began in September 2022, continued for a protracted period, both the Company and the Union approached the discussions with a spirit of compromise and reasonableness, allowing us to resolve all matters amicably.”
Mrs Narcisse also spoke of the company’s hope for future negotiations with the NWU.
“We are optimistic that by maintaining this same spirit moving forward, future negotiations can be completed more swiftly, enabling employees to benefit from any agreed-upon increases in a timely manner. The Management Team looks forward to continuing to work collaboratively with the Union to ensure that employee needs are considered and addressed.
The Collective agreement was officially signed at the Office of the Labour Commissioner on Friday, November 1, 2024, in the presence of Labour Officer, Dany Dariah. It takes effect from September 1, 2024.
