On August 1, 2022, Professor Rose-Marie Belle Antoine began her new role as Pro Vice-Chancellor and Principal for the St. Augustine Campus of The University of the West Indies (UWI). The professor succeeds Professor Brian Copeland, who retired on July 31, 2022.

The UWI’s University Council announced Professor Antoine’s appointment as Campus Principal on April 29, 2022. Annually, University Council reviews the academy’s business affairs, operations, and financial management, and also appoints HR officers as is customary.

A former University Pro Vice-Chancellor and initiator of UWI’s first multi-campus, hybrid delivery Master of Law programme, Professor Rose-Marie Belle Antoine served as the inaugural Director and Founder of the programme.

In addition, she was the first Dean of the Faculty of Law at the St. Augustine Campus where she helped shape the curriculum and introduced cutting-edge subjects like Oil & Gas Law, HIV, Banking, and Discrimination Law. — UWI Media Desk
