The Great Deception

“Exactly when people are in turmoil is the time that the entertainment business has always been at its best. Because people don’t want to be reminded every day that they are under siege, or that they’re not having a great time of life.” Lionel Richie

Can anyone clearly decipher what is going on in the world today? It seems to be a mad world. Everything is happening at the same time with evil outweighing the good. President Putin is out front with his war against Ukraine while the world looks on and some leaders are contemplating their next move. Things are definitely heading in the wrong direction. We are living in times when bullies are making a bid to take control.

Some deceptive and irresponsible persons have found themselves in leadership positions by invitation from the people. Leaders are powerful people, with the wrong intentions they can cause nations great pain and suffering, sometimes spilling over into the world. Deception is the magic wand they use to entice their followers, pretending to be who they are not until they reveal themselves fully. They are generous with gifts that influencers demand to get them to sing their praise. Then the majority of the masses follow, leaving behind a disarmed minority who can offer no challenge to the wrongs that will be perpetrated against them.

In recent years, we witnessed the case of a particular government that gained the reign of power with the principal motive to dismantle democracy and establish a dictatorship. The first move was to get the churches on their side when they got so-called anointed preachers to put their weight behind the man they thought would have made that country great again. The records tell a different story. After four years, a stench of corruption has been left behind, and a country where citizens’ rights are slowly being taken away from them. That was four years of THE GREAT DECEPTION, leaving behind a more divided country than at any time post abolition of slavery.

I can only assume that the turmoil in the world today has opened the eyes of many to live a life of freedom, enjoying life and doing all the good things at the moment, not holding back anything that can be done today for a future time. We are experiencing today, the NOW LIFESTYLE. This brings me to Saint Lucia Carnival 2022. It can be expected that St. Lucians and visitors will let their hair down and jump up. It is likely to be a Carnival Monday and Tuesday like no other. Those who plan to jump up will be celebrating Life, expressing gratitude for spared life. So putting all aside, St. Lucians decide it is time for a bacchanal. I wish everyone a peaceful Carnival.

On a final note while on the subject of Carnival, in spite of all of the possible excitement, let us not forget that COVID 19 is still with us, although much is not heard about people dying from the virus. My simple advice is not to throw caution to the wind. Take all the necessary steps to safeguard yourself and those around you. To those who jump up this year, it is my sincere wish that you will be around to jump again next year. Don’t be surprised if you see me along the route. Happy Carnival 2022!

Keep the Faith. Stay safe, and be blessed!
