Two Granted Bail in Firearm and Ammunitions Case

Twenty-eight-year-old resident of Grand Riviere, Tamaki Modeste and Jamal William, a twenty-nine-year-old resident of Assou Canal have been granted bail after an appearance at the First District Court to answer to charges for unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition.

On Tuesday, December 28, 2021, about 9:30am, Officers attached to the Criminal Investigations Department of the Gros Islet Police Station,during the conduct of mobile and foot patrols within the Grand Riviere and Assou Canal communities, arrested two individuals in firearm related matters.

The two were intercepted entering a motorcar and were searched by responding officers. During the search, the officers recovered a Taurus 9mm pistol and thirteen rounds of 9mm ammunition.

Both Modeste and William were arrested and subsequently charged for unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition. They were escorted to the First District Court where they were granted bail in the sum of $10,000.00 and $15,000.00 cash or suitable surety, respectively.
