FSTB Launches Healthy is Wealthy Campaign

The La Clery community-based group ‘From Soil to Boil (FSTB)’ was officially launched in December, 2021.

The purpose of the launch was to introduce ‘From Soil to Boil (FSTB)’ to the community of La Clery and its environs (Careillee, Sans Souci, Vide Bouteille and Bisee).  Their main objectives are to help the elderly, homebound, children and disenfranchised to access affordable, local food, and to eat healthy and make better food choices to avoid hospitalization. Hence the tagline ‘Healthy is Wealthy’.

The group procures surplus produce from farmers across St Lucia, through their partner, The St. Lucia Marketing Board at reasonable, agreed upon prices, in order to supply their customers at affordable prices. Boxes of local produce are available on a bi-weekly basis for pick up or delivery.

On Wednesday, January 19, 2022 FTSB will launch their Healthy is Wealthy Campaign. This initiative aims to improve diet and fitness levels among the population. The campaign will run from January 19 to July 19, 2022 and will be targeting children as well as adults. The intention is to tackle the growing incidence of non-communicable diseases in a very hands-on and positive way by instilling healthy eating and exercise habits into people from a very young age. The fundamental goal of Healthy is Wealthy campaign is to encourage people to eat clean, move more and consequently, live longer. The campaign will therefore be instrumental in creating a holistic approach to health and wellness.

The Healthy is Wealthy campaign will culminate with the event of St Lucia Carnival 2022. The slogan for this initiative is “six months to a fitter you.”

The campaign will kick off with a ‘Steps’ challenge. Persons can participate as individuals or in teams.  The goal of the ‘Steps’ challenge is for persons to endeavour to achieve 50 million or more steps by July 19, 2022 which is Carnival.  Prizes to be won!

In addition to the ‘Steps’ challenge there will be other mini challenges and events with themes directly related to seasons occurring during the forthcoming months e.g. Independence, Lent, Easter etc. There will also be cook offs, recipe postings and more.  For additional information go to FSTB’s Facebook and Instagram pages.
