Happy Holidays! It is Christmas time in the city! Do you hear what I hear! I am in a mood for giving Thanks. To everything, there is a time and a season. Let us celebrate in the spirit of giving thanks for all things concerning us because we are confident that it is the will of Yahweh.

COVID 19 and its variants are somewhat under control in Saint Lucia. However, beyond our shores, it is not the same. There are much fewer cases and significantly fewer deaths. We are in a good place but we must never forget how vulnerable we are. I am not aware of any call to Prayers. I feel that it is time for a National Day of Thanksgiving and Prayers.

On December 14, I celebrated a major milestone in my life’s journey. I am grateful to everyone who sent me birthday wishes. It was very rewarding to note that so many people were happy to know that I am still alive and very much in the game of life. It was a wonderful experience. I look forward to your continued support in my many efforts. Thank You!

In spite of the vicissitudes of life during the past year, we in Saint Lucia have a lot to be thankful for. It is important to be realistic in our expectations as the world is not what it used to be. Governments’ resources everywhere in the world are under pressure with competing demands placed upon them, especially in the areas of health care and education. It is necessary for our people to exercise patience while seeking to help themselves.

Turning to social and economic issues, we have to do more with less and seek out creative ways to deal with the unemployment situation, especially among the youth. One of the important contributors to fighting crime must be putting idle hands to work and giving our young people a sense of purpose and financial independence. No one can be satisfied with the level of crime in our society today. What can we do, that is not being done to wipe out criminal activities from our midst. As we celebrate the Festive Season, let us take the opportunity to establish PEACE and GOODWILL among our citizens of all ages. Let us look beyond family and friends and extend a helping hand to the less fortunate among us. Let us show them that we care and ensure that we share our blessings with the less fortunate. This is a time for sharing and caring.

This year’s Christmas will be like no other in times past. Gone too soon was the preferred hymn as many of us said farewell to loved ones, friends, and colleagues whom we felt left us too soon. COVID 19 has almost reached out to everyone with the pain of loss. Let us take comfort in celebrating their lives. To those of us who are alive, let us give thanks and seek to get closer to our Creator like never before.

This is a time when we must dress up for Yahweh; let us step out in our best apparel for Christmas and New Year’s Eve church services. There must be opportunities for large congregations to host services at the various stadiums and playing fields so that proper social distancing could be maintained. Let our people sing lustily in Songs of Thanksgiving!

To my dear readers, I wish above all things that you may prosper and be in health even as your souls prosper. I further wish that you will have a holiday that will afford you Joy and Happiness as you enjoy being among your Family and Friends in an atmosphere of Fun.

Seek out every opportunity to maintain the COVID 19 Protocols. Our Creator has promised to protect us as long as we live in his will. Stay safe and be blessed. I wish you a Merry Christmas.
