Local Chefs and Bartenders give ARC participants a ‘taste of Saint Lucia’

For the second consecutive year, participants of the Atlantic Rally for Cruisers (ARC) will be treated to live preparation and tasting of authentic St. Lucian cuisine.

The popular Cooking Demo is back. The ARC Cooking Demo for ARC 2021 dubbed Lucian Cook-Up, will be hosted On the Green at the IGY Rodney Bay Marina on Thursday December 9 from 10:00 a.m.

ARC participants are expected to assemble On the Green for a “taste of Saint Lucia.” The Cooking Demo is one way of getting ARC participants immersed in the culture and cuisine of Saint Lucia. On arrival at the IGY Rodney Bay Marina, the crew of each yacht receives a welcome basket with fresh local produce, which they will learn how to prepare, during the Cooking Demos. Two of the island’s leading local chefs will tantalize the taste buds of ARC participants. They are, Chef Lloyd ‘Recko’ Iwao and Chef Beverly-Ann Loctor.

Chef Recko trained under Chef Fabian St. Rose, who helped him specialize in flavors and food combinations. Chef Recko has always loved food. He enjoys cooking for friends and family. Chef Recko has been featured in the Mango Cook Book for St. Lucia’s Best. He has created several unique, secret recipes for burgers and fried chicken. Aside from cooking, Chef Recko enjoys fishing, gyming, and combat sports.

Chef Beverly-Ann Loctor has been cooking since she was 12 years old. Now 45, she has honed her cooking skills to a world class level from her early days at Bay Gardens Resort. In her own words: “I love what I do. I love giving each and everyone that experience in my dishes. If there’s something the guest wants, I go above and beyond to satisfy. Cooking brings joy to my heart.”

On Wednesday December 15 from 2:00 p.m. yachtees will get to sample local rums and cocktails prepared by some of the island’s top mixologists in the ARC Bartenders Demo. This event will feature some of the finest local rums and spirits.

In addition to the Bartenders and Cooking Demos, ARC 2021 will feature the popular Farmers Market at the IGY Rodney Bay Marina. Live entertainment is also on the program for ARC 2021. Restaurants in the Rodney Bay Marina have also planned various Theme Nights for ARC participants. ARC 2021 will culminate with a Prize Giving Ceremony on Friday December 17.
