Saint Lucia Records 24 New Cases of COVID-19

PRESS RELEASE — The Ministry of Health, Wellness and Elderly Affairs today Tuesday, November 2, 2021, confirmed a total of twenty-four (24) new cases of COVID-19. These cases were processed on Monday, November 1, 2021 at the Ezra Long Laboratory from a total of 286 samples which were collected between October 30 and November 1, 2021. This number of positive cases makes up 8.4% of all the samples processed on that date. These new cases bring the total number of cases diagnosed in-country to date to 12, 610.

The Ministry of Health also reports one (1) new COVID-19 death, which occurred on October 19. To date, the total number of COVID-19 deaths in country is 197 and the total number of COVID-19 related deaths is 62. COVID-19 death #197 is a 53 year old female from the Gros Islet district.

Confirmation was also received of the recovery of 42 individuals diagnosed with COVID-19. This brings the number of active cases in-country to 315. Currently, one (1) individual is in a critical state and five (5) others are severely ill at the Respiratory Hospital.

To date, a total of 41, 971 Saint Lucians have been fully vaccinated. Another 9426 are partially vaccinated and 257 have received their booster shots.

Vaccinations will resume on Wednesday, November 3, 2021 at the Vigie Sports Complex, Dennery Mothers’ Pre-School, St. Anthony’s Medical Centre, (Vieux-Fort), Tapion Hospital (by appointment only) and the Gros Islet H.R. Centre. Vaccinations are scheduled for distribution at all sites from 9 am to 5 pm.
