Saint Lucia Records 63 New COVID-19 Cases

PRESS RELEASE — The Ministry of Health, Wellness and Elderly Affairs today Saturday, October 2, 2021, confirms a total of sixty-three (63) new cases of COVID-19. These cases were processed on Friday, October 1, 2021 at the Ezra Long Laboratory from a total of 289 samples which were collected between September 30 and October 1, 2021. This number of positive cases makes up 21.8% of all the samples processed on that date. These new cases bring the total number of cases diagnosed in- country to date to 11, 636.

Confirmation was also received of the recovery of 170 individuals diagnosed with COVID-19. This brings the number of active cases in-country to 1,364. Two (2) individuals are in critical state while twelve (12) others are severely ill at the Respiratory Hospital.

To date, a total of 36,091 individuals have received the first dose of the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine and 29,758 have received the second dose. A total of 10,529 individuals have received the first dose and 3,699 individuals have received the second dose of the Pfizer vaccine.

Vaccinations will resume on Tuesday, October 5, 2021 at the Vieux Fort RC Parish Hall, La Ressource Constituency Council and the Gros- Islet Human Resource Center. The vaccine will also be given at People’s Discount Drugstore on Victoria Street in Castries by appointment only. Vaccinations are scheduled for distribution at all sites from 9 am to 4 pm.
