Saint Lucia Records 87 New Cases of COVID-19

PRESS RELEASE — The Ministry of Health, Wellness and Elderly Affairs confirms a total of eighty-seven (87) new cases of COVID-19, today Sunday, September 26, 2021. These cases were processed on Saturday, September 25, 2021 at the Ezra Long Laboratory from a total of 353 samples which were collected between September 24 and 25, 2021. This number of positive cases makes up 24.6% of all the samples processed on that date. These new cases bring the total number of cases diagnosed in- country to date to 11,231.

The Ministry of Health also reports one (1) new COVID-19 death. The total number of COVID- 19 deaths in-country now stand at 140 and the total number of COVID-19 related deaths is 44.

COVID-19 death #140 is a 53 year old female from the Laborie district. The Ministry of Health extends condolences to the bereaved family, friends and loved ones of this individual.

Confirmation was also received of the recovery of seventy-two (72) individuals diagnosed with COVID-19. This brings the number of active cases in-country to 2170. Currently, one (1) active case is critical while fourteen (14) others are severely ill at the Respiratory Hospital.

To date, a total of 35,793 individuals have received the first dose of the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine and 29,423 have received the second dose. A total of 9,270 individuals have received the first dose and 1,738 individuals have received the second dose of the Pfizer vaccine.

Vaccinations will resume on tomorrow Monday, September 27, 2021 at the Vigie Complex and the Soufriere Hospital from 9 am to 4pm.
