Saint Lucia records 76 new cases of COVID-19

PRESS RELEASE ā€” Today Thursday September 9, 2021, the Ministry of Health, Wellness and Elderly Affairs confirms 76 new cases of COVID-19. These cases are from a total of 356 samples processed at the Ezra Long Laboratory on Wednesday September 8, 2021. These cases bring the total number of cases diagnosed in country to date to 9403.

Confirmation was also received of the recovery of 95 individuals diagnosed with COVID-19. This brings the total number of active cases currently in country to date to 2292. Two of these active cases are currently critical and thirteen of them are severely ill at the Respiratory Hospital.

To date 35, 231 individuals have received the first dose of the Astra Zeneca COVID-19 vaccine and 28, 452 have received the second dose. A total of 5, 755 individuals have received the first dose and 76 individuals have received the second dose of the Pfizer vaccine.

Tomorrow Friday, September 10, 2021 the COVID-19 vaccine will be given at the Jacmel Wellness Center, Gros-Islet Human Resource Center, Soufriere Hospital and the St. Anthonyā€™s Medical Center at Sunny Acres. The COVID-19 vaccine is also available at the various wellness centers around the island and this service is free of charge.
