Saint Lucia Records 69 New Cases of COVID-19, 10 New Deaths

PRESS RELEASE ā€” Today Wednesday September 8, 2021 the Ministry of Health, Wellness and Elderly Affairs confirms a total of 69 new cases of COVID-19. These cases were processed on Tuesday September 7, 2021 at the Ezra Long Laboratory from a total of 375 samples. These new cases bring the total number of cases diagnosed in country to date to 9327.

The Ministry of Health also reports seven new COVID-19 deaths and three COVID-19 related deaths. All of these deaths occurred during the period August 28, 2021 to September 5, 2021. To date, the total number of COVID-19 deaths in country is 92 and the total number of COVID19 related deaths is 36.

COVID-19 death #86 is an 82 year old female from the Castries district. COVID-19 death #87 is a 58 year old male from the Castries district. COVID-19 death #88 is an 85 year old female from the Castries district. COVID-19 death #89 is a 61 year old female from the Castries district. COVID-19 death #90 is a 42 year old female from the Laborie district. COVID-19 death #91 is a 54 year old male from the Castries district. COVID-19 death #92 is a 79 year old female from the Canaries district. COVID-19 related death #34 is a 68 year old male from the Babonneau district.

COVID-19 related death #35 is a 50 year old female from the Castries district. COVID-19 related death #36 is a 72 year old male from the Castries district. The Ministry of Health extends condolences to the families, friends and loved ones of all of these individuals.

Confirmation was also received of the recovery of 101 individuals diagnosed with COVID-19. This brings the number of active cases in country to date to 2311. Two of these active cases are currently critical and twelve of them are severely ill at the Respiratory Hospital.

To date, a total of 35, 159 individuals have received the first dose of the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine and 28, 315 have received the second dose. A total of 5, 267 individuals have received the first dose and 74 individuals have received the second dose of the Pfizer vaccine.

Tomorrow Thursday, September 9, 2021 the vaccine will be given at the Vieux-Fort RC Parish Hall and the Peopleā€™s Discount Drugstore at St. Louis Street (by appointment only) from 9am to 4pm.
