Platinum FC and National Under-20 Remain Unbeaten In SLFA Championship

MATCHES continue today (Wednesday 28th July 2021) in the Saint Lucia Football Association (SLFA) Inc sponsored Scott’s Sports and Awards Premier Division Club championship under the theme ‘Let’s Kick Covid Out’.

It all starts at 5.00 p.m. at the Anse la Raye playing field, where Northern United FC will play Platinum FC while GMC United FC takes on VSADC at 7.00 p.m.

At the Phillip Marcellin Ground (PMG) Vieux Fort, from 5.00 p.m. Uptown Rebels FC will take on Ti Rocher FC while Monchy FC goes up against El Ninos at 7.00 p.m.

Last evening (Tuesday 27th July) in the 2nd Division Championship, at the Canaries playing field, RV Juniors took on New Generation while Diamond Ballers played 1987 All Stars.

At the PMG, from 5.00 p.m. Bays FC took on Together Youth, while B1 FC played T Valley played at 7.00 p.m.

Four matches were played on Sunday 25th July 2021 in the Premier Division.

At the Anse La Raye playing field in the first of an exciting double header. Northern United FC was able to pull one back in the dying minutes of the game to edge out Ti Rocher FC 2 – 1.

Following a goalless first half, Sherwin Simon opened the scoring for Northern United FC in the 75th minute only for Salim Joseph to equalize in the 82nd minute.

The game meandered back and forth giving Sherwin Simon an opportunity to score his second in the third minute of added on time (90+3) to give his team a well deserve victory.

In the other game, Monchy FC and GMC FC played to an exciting goalless draw.

At the Phillip Marcellin Grounds in Vieux Fort, El Ninos and Knights played to a goalless draw in the opener.

Platinum FC clinched a hard fought 2 – 1 victory over a much-improved Uptown Rebels outfit to remain unbeaten in the competition. Thus far they have conceded only one goal.

Platinum FC got their goals from Greg President in the 28th and Kurt Fredrick in the 72nd minute.

Requelme Elva netted for Uptown Rebels in the 78th minute.

The National Under-20 team remains unbeaten in the 2nd Division. The team defeated BI FC 5 – 0 at the SLFA Technical Centre in Grande Riviere, Dennery on Saturday 24th July.

The youngsters got off to an uncharacteristically slow start, but quickly got into their stride with some deft and crisp passing as they relentlessly took the fight to their opponents.

They were soon rewarded when Daneo Caroo found the back of the nets in the 12th minute. Before the dust settled Canius Sandiford made it 2 – 0 in the 20th minute. Keegan Caul rounded off the half 3 – 0 in the 32nd minute.

In the second half, the youngsters added two more goals from the boots of Brandon Sandiford in the 68th and Canius Sandiford in the 69th minute respectively. Despite their convincing victory, nevertheless the team squandered numerous scoring opportunities especially in the second half.

In the other game played Victory Eagles FC trounced Diamond Ballers FC 11 – 1, with the half time score being 7 – 1.

The victors got their goals from Shervin George with a hat trick in the 32nd, 72nd and the first minute of added on time. Bobby Emmanuel also netted a Hat trick in the 7th, 12th and 41st minute. The other goal scorers were Kern Joseph a brace (2) in the 18th and 87th minute, Shervin Alfred in the 27th, Akeem Myers in the 83rd and Shawn Alfred.

Kernel David pulled one back for Diamond Ballers FC in the 8th minute.

At the Anse la Raye playing field, in the first of a double header, New Generations FC edged out Lancers FC 2 – 1. Scoring for New Generations were Raheem Noel in the 78th minute and Yanic Noel in the sixth minute of added on time.

Earlier Samuel Seraphin opened the scoring for Lancers FC in the 33rd minute.

In the other game 1987 All Stars registered their first win in the tournament with a hard fought 2 – 1 win over RV Juniors. Jay Christmas scored in the 17th and Ray J Joseph in the 66th minute, while Bashan Edward netted for RV Juniors in the 35th minute.
