Eight Matches This Weekend In SLFA Premier and 2nd Division Championships

LOCAL football enthusiasts will be treated to another round of matches this weekend when the Saint Lucia Football Association (SLFA) Inc / Scotts Sport and Awards Club Championships, under the theme ‘Lets Kick Covid Out’ gets under way.

There will be matches in both the Premiere and Second Division at three venues. Today (Saturday 24th July) in the 2nd Division from 2.00 p.m. the National Under-20 team will be looking for their third consecutive victory when they play BI FC and Victory Eagles will fancy their chances against Diamond Ballers FC at 5.00 p.m. Both matches will take place at the SLFA Goal Project in Grande Riviere, Dennery.

Also today, at the Anse la Raye playing field, from 5.00 p.m. New Generation FC plays Lancers FC and RV Juniors will take on 1987 All Stars at 7.00 p.m.

Heading the 2nd Division is B1 FC and Togetherness Youth with 7 points each followed by the Under 20, Bays FC and New Generations 6 points each.

The leading goal scorer Keegan Caul of the Under 20 with 9 goals, he is followed by Shervon Eleuthere of RV Juniors and Mc. Arthur Lewis 1987 All Stars with 4 and 3 goals respectively. The trio are followed by seven players with 2 goals each.

On Sunday 25th, in the Premier Division at the Anse la Raye playing field from 5.00 p.m., Northern United FC takes on Ti Rocher FC while Monchy FC will be up against GMC FC at 7.00 p.m.

At the Phillip Marcellin Grounds (PMG) from 5.00 p.m. Knight FC will play El Ninos FC Platinum FC will take on Uptown Rebels at 7.00 p.m.

The Premier Division is led by Platinum FC with 9 points, followed by Monchy United, GMC United, and Northern United on 6 points each.

The Leading goal scorers are Lamar Serieux of Ti Rocher, and Tev Lawrence of Monchy with 4 goals each followed by Devon O’ Brien with 3 goals. Five players are locked on 2 goals each.

On Wednesday 21st, in the Premier Division played at the PMG, Uptown Rebels returned to their winning ways by drubbing VSADC 5 – 0 at the PMG in the first of a double header.

The half time score was 2 – 0.

For Uptown Rebels, the goal scorers were Riquelme Elva with a brace in the 73rd and 78th minute, Saviola Elva in the 35th, Tyron Myers in the 51st, and Rai Gaspard in the 65th minute.

In the second game, Ti Rocher FC made light work of Knights FC defeating them 3 – 1.

For Ti Rocher FC, the goal scores were Lamar Serieux with a brace from the penalty spot in the 10th and 45th min. and Salim Joseph in the 58th minute.

Devon O’Brien scored for Knights FC with a penalty in the 33rd minute.

At the Anse la Raye playing field an early hat trick by Tev Lawrence in the 11th, 32nd and 48th minute was sufficient for Monchy FC to defeat archrivals and one the Premiere League favourites, Northern United 3 – 0.

The half time score was 2 – 0.

In the other game played Platinum FC after trailing 0 – 1 edged out El Ninos FC 2 -1.

For Platinum FC, the goals scorers were Kimani Joseph in the 47th and Noah Nicholas in the 74th minute.

Kishawn James had earlier opened the scoring for El Ninos FC in the 24th minute.

On Tuesday 20th, four matches were played in the Division 2. In the first game at the Phillip Marcellin Grounds (PMG) Togetherness Youth in an enthralling encounter came from a goal down to finish with an exciting 2 – 2 draw against Victory Eagles.

For Eagles the goal scorers were Bobby Emmanuel from the penalty spot in the 2nd minute and the other an own goal by Travis Amiable in the 38th minute.

The goal scorers for Togetherness Youth were Deus Alphonse in the 29th and Larry Harper in the 2nd minute of added on time.

In the other game played, New Generations, with a goal by Shahim Hunte in the 87th minute, edged out Diamond Ballers 1 – 0.

At the Canaries playing field after trailing 0 – 2 Lancers FC pulled out all the stops to earn a 2 – 2 draw against T Valley.

T Valley surged into the lead with two goals from Josh Harrow in the 28th and 35th minute, both from the penalty spot.

Lancers FC stormed back in the second half with goals from Allen Octave and Albertini Phillip in the 63rd and 69th minute respectively.
