LUCIA Distillers has revealed the names of the five bartenders who have qualified for the finals of the Chairman’s Spice Lab competition.
They are Sheena Auguste, Brian Paul, Silas Celestine, Germain Sealy and Swane St. Croix.
The winner gets to have his or her name etched on a limited edition of Chairman’s Spiced Rum to be launched in 2021.
The lucky five bartenders met at the St. Lucia Distillers conference room this week to get briefed on the next stage of the competition and to receive the six spices that must be incorporated into their special creation. Additionally, each bartender will need to add three additional spices of their own to create their unique spiced rum.
The qualifying bartenders, most unemployed because of Covid-19, welcomed the opportunity to be engaged in an historic and creative undertaking. They are also vying for cash prizes including a top prize of $2000.
Marketing Manager of St. Lucia Distillers, Sergin Jn Baptiste says in addition to creating a spiced rum, the bartenders have also been asked to produce a cocktail using their spiced rum being the base spirit.
The bartenders have exactly one month to work their magic. They have been presented with the key ingredients.
The Chairman’s Spiced Lab competition was also open to international bartenders from Europe– two will be selected from a pool of three hundred applicants.
The local and overseas winners will work exclusively with the research and development team at St. Lucia Distillers in creating a limited-edition Spiced Rum that will be released on the international market in the first quarter of 2021.
