IT was with great sadness that the Board and Secretariat of the Caribbean Association of Banks (CAB) Inc. received the news on the evening of Monday 23 March 2020 that Director Sean Husain had passed away. Director Husain took ill suddenly on Monday night, having been involved in calls earlier in the day with fellow CAB Board members.

A well-respected figure in the Caribbean banking and financial services sector, Sean had been with Republic Bank for 26 years, having served in managerial positions in Barbados and Guyana, before taking the reins at Republic Bank (Suriname) NV. A national of Guyana, Sean was also a member of the Board of the Surinaamse Bankiersvereniging – the Suriname Bankers Association, SBV.

Tributes have been pouring in from the regional banking fraternity for Sean Husain, who is survived by his wife, Samantha, and their three children. CAB extends deepest condolences to his family, and the organisation has committed to honouring his memory in a special way.
