VETERANS FOOTBALL CRUCIAL WEEKEND: Six Games At Two Venues

THE excitement, yesteryear comradery and friendly rivalry on the pitch continue in the 2018 Veterans in Sports Inc. football tournament with six matches on the card at two venues within the Castries basin.

Today at 4:00 p.m. at the Marchand Grounds, in the first encounter, defending Caribbean Alliance Gold Cup champions Soufriere Veterans plays bottom of the table in Group A, Mon Repos Sharks.

In game 2 at 6:00 p.m. current bottom of the table in Group C, Canaries Veterans will take on Laborie Veterans and the third and final game on the evening will see home team Marchand Veterans hoping to keep their heads above water takes on Congorians at 8:00 p.m.

On Sunday 2nd, the action will switch to the SAB Sporting Facility.

In game 1 at 12:00 noon, former Caribbean Alliance Gold Cup and Plate champions VSADC will play their final Group match against Anse la Raye Veterans.

In game2 at 2:00 p.m. another former Caribbean Alliance Gold Cup champion team, Caricom Masters will be looking to turn their fortunes around when they play Vieux Fort North.

In the final game at 4:00 p.m. Flow Lancers FC playing on home turf will be hoping to advance to the Play Offs when they take on Vieux Fort South.

On Wednesday evening, in the only game on the card, VSADC 3, Mon Repos Sharks 0. For VSADC, the goal scorers were M. Jules in the 2nd minute and Barnett Bledman in the 24th and 39th minutes.

The Points Standings following Wednesday evening encounter between VSADC Veterans and Mon Repos Sharks reads: Group A – Soufriere Veterans – 6 points, Choiseul Veterans – 6 points, Anse la Raye Veterans – 4 points, VSADC following their 3-0 win over Mon Repo Sharks has 3 points; the Sharks remain at the bottom of the points table with 1 point. Group B – Gros Islet Veterans – 9 points, Micoud Veterans – 7 points, Prophets and Kings – 4 points, Caricom Masters and Vieux Fort North, yet to get off the mark . Group C – Labowee Connexions – 5 points, Central Vieux Fort – 4 points, Laborie Veterans and All Blacks Dennery – 3 points each and Canaries 1. Group D -Valley Legends – 7 points, Flow Lancers FC – 5 points, Marchand Veterans – 4 points, Vieux Fort South 3 and Congorians 0.
