Taiwan Embassy Thanks Saint Lucians For Goodwill Following Hualien Earthquake

PRESS RELEASE – The Embassy of the Republic of China (Taiwan) would like to convey its sincere gratitude to all Saint Lucians who have expressed condolences and support for the victims of the Hualien earthquake.

A magnitude 6.4 earthquake struck Taiwan’s east coast city of Hualien last week Tuesday, causing several buildings to collapse. So far, 17 fatalities have been recorded and over 800 people had to be relocated. Search and rescue missions have been in full operation to save trapped victims from the wreckage.

Allen Chastanet, Prime Minister of Saint Lucia, called Ambassador Douglas Shen immediately after the news broke out to convey his condolences on behalf of the government and people of Saint Lucia. The Embassy also received many messages of support from Cabinets Ministers, dignitaries and friends from all walks of life.
