THE semifinalists of the 2018 DJ Dongar/Mackeson Knockout Football Competition have been decided. D.C.Y.O. out of the Dennery Football League will play Rovers United from the Mabouya Valley Football League, while Piton Travel Young Stars from DFL will come up against El Ninos from the Desruisseaux Football League.
Semifinal action is scheduled for this weekend at the La Ressource playing field.
In quarterfinal action last weekend with the return legs of the first round of matches to determine the semifinalists, in the first match held on Saturday, Rover United followed their first leg win by defeating Young Strikers 3-0 to advance with an 8-0 aggregate win. Goal scorers for Rovers United were Deas David in the 28th minute, Gayle Emmanuel in the 46th and KernilPolius in the 55th.
In the second encounter, El Ninos could not repeat their brilliant first leg performance against Monarch Sports Club as the match ended in a nil-all draw. However, by virtue of the first leg victory of 5-1, El Ninos FC booked their spot in the semifinals.
On Sunday, in the first encounter, defending champions Piton Travel Young Stars were tested by a determined Aux Lyon United team which came from behind to secure a 2-1 victory. However, Piton Travel Young Stars advanced to the semifinals by virtue of an aggregate score of 3-2, having won the first leg by 2-0.
Goal scorer for Piton Travel Young Stars was Jamie Prospere in the 74th minute.
For Aux Lyon United, the goal scorers were Kendell Theodule in the 85th minute and AkimGittens in 93rd.
In the second match of the evening, D.C.Y.O. defeated Uprising United 1-0 to advance to the semifinals on an aggregate score of 2-0. The goal scorer for D.C.Y.O. was Barry Marquis from the penalty spot in the 84th minute.
