Today is Nobel Laureates Day in tribute to Sir Derek Walcott (1930-2017) and Sir William Arthur Lewis (1915-1991).
Sir Derek won the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1992 while Sr Arthur won the Nobel Prize for Economics in 1979.
Meanwhile the Sir Derek Walcott Memorial Lecture will be presented by Kate Snodgrass, Artistic Director of the Boston University Playwright’s Theatre, and is entitled, “A Playwright’s Journey from Castries to Boston and Back”. Venue: National Cultural Centre, Barnard Hill. Time: 7:30 p.m.
The Sir Arthur Lewis Memorial Lecture, themed “Climate Change: the economic response to disaster in Saint Lucia and the wider Caribbean, will be held on Thursday, January 25.
Lead presenter is Dr. James Fletcher with panellists Derek Gibbs of the CDB and Anthony Isaac of CCRIFF. Venue: Finance Administrative Centre, Pointe Seraphine. Time: 7:30 p.m.
