ANTONIUS Jn Baptiste of Dennery proved too much for his opponents on Sunday as he continued his good run of on to win his third event for 2016. The 23 year old Jn Baptiste rode to victory in the Saint Lucia Cycling Association’s 52 Kilometre Criterium a 40 lap road race held last Sunday.

The race started with Dornal Joseph going on a breakaway on the first lap, which was quickly neutralized within the first 3km. The first of four prime prizes every 10 laps was won by Kluivert Mitchel of Mon Repos. Immediately after Jn Baptiste attacked and went alone on a break lasting 30km to win the 2nd and 3rd prime prizes in the process.

At the back it was 16 year old Jessie Mentor and Mitchel who worked together for 30km and were able to catch up with Jn Baptiste with 7 laps or 9km to go.

Jn Baptiste put in another attack and went alone in the last 9km to secure a well-earned victory and the fourth prime prize in a time of 1hour 34 minutes. Second place – want to Mitchel in a time of 1 hour 35 minutes 16 seconds and third to to Mentor in a time of 1 hour 35 minutes 21 seconds.

Meanwhile, Quami Robinson won the 14 and under 13km race in 26 minutes 23 seconds, ahead of Kermani Evans and third Wesley Lewis.
