In October, the SLBF hosted John Wiggins over a one-week period as part of its initiatives in developing the sport of basketball and its administrators on the island. During the visit, Wiggins, alongside the SLBF’s technical committee headed by Anthony Lamontagne, conducted a few player assessment sessions which were also open to all players from teams and clubs islandwide.

Based on the assessment, the technical committee will be contacting these persons directly in relation to the National Team Tryouts.

The SLBF and the Technical Committee are primarily looking for players 20 years and older for these sessions. Additionally, the SLBF and the Ministry of Youth Development and Sports will concentrate their efforts on Under-15 and Under-19 National Teams come January 2017.

The SLBF extends an invitation to persons who are interested in the following: Coaching (school programme, mini hoops school programme), Refereeing, Desk Officiating and Club/Team Coaching.
